Porter is a passionate facilitator and advocate of positive youth development who has worked supporting young people and adults for the past decade as a teacher, facilitator, and curriculum developer in a wide variety of settings. He has taught in private schools, developed and ran afterschool programs and wilderness-based rites of passage programs for teens and their families, and ran a small business offering mentoring for youth, counseling for adults, and SEL summer camps. He is committed to facilitating the deep and lasting personal/interpersonal growth that young people and adults need to thrive across their lifespan. Porter currently works as the Social and Emotional Learning Program Manager with School’s Out Washington, a statewide youth intermediary, where he supports SEL initiatives and develops and runs trainings across the state, and is an embedded field consultant with the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality. Porter holds a B.A. from Antioch University Seattle in Education and Human Development and is a certified counselor through The Interchange Counseling Institute. In his free time Porter explores the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, dances often, makes music, and spends quality time with friends and family.
