In this interactive workshop, we will apply a trauma-informed lens to our understandings of the impacts of inequity and violence in young people’s lives. We will lift up the innate intelligence and resiliency of young people while recognizing the barriers they experience at the intersections of trauma and oppression. Through discussion and reflection, we will work to undo patterns of judgment and blame and instead, build empathic relationships that honor young people’s ways of surviving and elevate their sense of their own dignity, power, and voice. Participants will be supported to deepen their self-awareness and develop their capacity to ally with young people for self-determination and justice.
