Nationally, 80% of public and private school K-12 teachers are white women. To better serve our students and prepare them for a diverse world, white female-socialized educators must do identity work to support that goal. Working through an intersectional feminist lens, participants will uncover the relationship between white privilege, sexism, and implicit biases. We can own our collective power and be accountable for our privilege to transform education. This workshop is experiential, engaging, relationship-based, and grounded in equity both in theory and practice. We will look at data nationally and locally, and highlight teacher racial and gender identities to name and notice the power and privilege within our work. Come prepared to learn, share, and leave with strategies to live equity in your school.
