Committee for Children (CfC) is committed to supporting the safety and well-being of children through social-emotional learning (SEL) and development in a variety of contexts. In this session CfC staff and some of our Out of School Time (OST) partners will present findings from our research and field tests around effective strategies for supporting SEL through games and play in OST settings. Our session will engage participants in (a) SEL activities that elevate youth voices through open reflection; (b) discussions about facilitating meaningful activities and reflections that explore differences in youth’s lived experiences; and (c) discussions about what session participants learned, what they still hope to learn, and what they believe they can teach others in the room.
